Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTONIETTA TUMMILLO
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother (mama, nonna, and bisnonna) on March 20, 2026, at the age of 93.
Antonietta will be lovingly remembered by her children, Gerardo (Sharon), Sabino, Angelina, and Maria. Grandchildren, Amanda, Anthony (Jenna), Sabino Jr., and Giordana; Daniela and Marco; Joey and Melissa; Joseph and Tianna; and Massimo and Milano. Great-grandchildren, Aryana, Soraya, Rocky Jr., and Juliano; Cosimo; and Leo-Antonio. As well as Antonietta’s siblings in Italy, Domenico (Mimi), Gerardo, and Felicetta.
Antonietta was predeceased by her parents, Sabato and Maria Di Girolamo; her husband Antonio of 59 years; beloved son Roberto; brothers, Antonio (Tonino) and Vincenzo (Enzo); and sisters, Caterina and Assuntina.
Antonietta was born in Muro Lucano, Potenza, Italy on January 24, 1933. Having a traditional upbringing, Antonietta learned from her parents the importance of family and instilling their strong Catholic values. She also learned from her mother the secret of Italian cuisine. Food is made with love and Antonietta’s meals reflected this throughout her life.
On April 8, 1957, Antonietta married her love Antonio (Tony) Tummillo. Together, they had five beautiful children. On March 9, 1969, Tony immigrated to Canada to secure employment and a new home for his wife and children. In 1975 their oldest son Gerardo immigrated, followed by Antonietta and the four remaining children on October 10, 1976. Reunited, Tony and Antonietta worked together to create a comfortable and prosperous life for themselves and their family. As a housewife and busy mother, Antonietta took great pride in her children’s accomplishments and successes in their new lives. As her family legacy grew and the chairs around the family table were added, good Italian food was enjoyed by all. Seeing her food enjoyed by so many family and friends gave her great pride. No one left the kitchen table without hearing “mangiare, mangiare” ("eat, eat").
Not everything was about work. Antonietta and her husband enjoyed many trips home to reunite with her family in Italy. And she enjoyed hosting her family here in her new home when they could visit. So many will miss her infectious laugh and lovely smile.
Forever in our hearts (Per sempre nei nostri cuori mama).
Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Seven Oaks Hospital for all their care and compassion towards our mother. As well, Antonietta’s personal physician, Dr. Wilson.
Viewing and condolences will be held at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m., Father Michael Savarimuthu presiding. Entombment will follow at Holy Angel Mausoleum - Green Acres Memorial Garden, Highway 1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
